Hello! Hope this post finds you all doing very well...DnA is surely doing well, we are finishing up are crazy busy wedding season and really looking forward to the down time! Don't get me wrong we LOVE our clients but sometimes you just want to enjoy a Saturday at home eating banana pancakes and some college football {Go Bulldogs!}.

We would love for you to meet {via this blog} Mike and Amy! They are fun, both out going and super cute little lovers, gitty in love. We have known Amy for years and we were honored when she asked us to shoot her wedding. I don't know Mike at all but I can tell you after working with him, I love him! He is very organized and gave me a very detailed timeline...that is great for me{ash} a perfectionist who finds joy in organization! Alright enough of me rambling on, scroll down, enjoy some pics!

We pretty much have a huge crush on this wedding {and the bride and groom}! The ceremony and reception took place at the beautiful Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Ca. Breathtaking ocean views and cool breezes made for a perfect day. Jacqueline and Kevin are a gorgeous couple with huge hearts that made the 12hr. day of shooting so enjoyable! The details of this wedding were so fabulous from Jacq's amazing vintage bird cage veil to the ever so perfect lilac stone earrings from Kevin to her...Another highlight of this wedding for us is that we got to shoot with our favorite video guys Tom and Matt from Aqua Vivus go to their blog and check out the same day premiere they made, so good! This family is way to cute for words. Dan and Amy are some of the most wonderful, loving people I have the pleasure of knowing. About five months ago they had little baby, Milo Dean. Milo is my love and brings so much joy into this world! He has the most perfect little Buddha belly and is "king of the power nap"! Up on the blog today we have a lovely couple! Margeaux and Steven are perfect for one another...now I can say this because I have known Margeaux since I was a little girl. We were neighbors and bff's! We haven't seen or talked to each other in six years but thanks to Facebook we were reconnected! I couldn't have picked a more perfect man for her and I was very blessed by being a part of their special day!

The wedding and reception took place at La Provence in Roseville, ca. Such a perfect place for a classy intimate wedding...the day was perfect! Oh, and wait until you see her dress, amazing!

Ever wonder what happened to Polaroids? Check out the prices on Ebay and it will blow your mind what people (like me) are paying for this antiquated film. When the instant film division of Polaroid shut down a few years ago now, it started a panic amongst most photographers. Refrigerators across the globe are now stocked with this film type to preserve it into the future. The folks over at Impossible Project are on a daring mission to create their own version of the film and many hopes ride upon their success. We still believe in the film's magic and illustriously unpredictable behavior. Take a look.

Remember Miles and Heather's e.session?! The adorable couple with the cowboy boots! Well they got hitched. We were so excited to shoot this wedding because this couple is simple wonderful, they never stop smiling! {Even when you tell them to, they can't!}

Their day could not have been better, from the weather to the locations...everything came together so perfect. They were married at Westminster Presbyterian in Point Loma, Ca. This quaint chapel with stained glass added a fabulous touch to the day, following the ceremony was the reception that took place at the Star of the Sea. Such a cool venue over the water with the sun setting behind the cliffs, again perfection! OH! how could I forget?? Dinner was catered by Phil's BBQ!{only our favorite restaurant in SD!} That made for some extra happy photographers :)

It is not every day that we get to work FOR other wedding "industrialists". But last weekend we did just that! Matt is the right hand man behind Aqua Vivus, some of the best wedding videography you will ever see, so when he and Chariane asked us to do their engagements, we were elated. The shoot consisted of a lovely afternoon with a beyond extraordinary sunset over the cliffs in La Jolla. Enjoy!

Ben is a rock-star {literally} and Marlise a beauty with brains {a journalist}... This couple was a pure joy to capture on their wedding day. They both are such caring people and both have love radiating from them, they make us smile! Their wedding and reception took place at Twin Oaks Garden Estate in Vista, Ca. The venue was beautiful, full of detail and lush gardens. To round out the day perfectly, 72 degrees, blue skies in January can surely make for an even greater blushing bride...

Meet Adam and Katie, they are a fabulous duo! Last weekend we headed up to Sacramento for an early thanksgiving with our family. Luckily, we got to fit in an e.session...we headed out to Folsom Lake for the most perfect nature decor. It was quite breezy but all in all a perfect day for a perfect couple. Adam and Katie will be married in may, stay tuned for their wedding this spring!

Neil and Denise are awesome people...warm hearts, quiet souls...perfect for one another. They were married 10.10.10! How fun is that! Their wedding and reception took place at Balboa Park in San Diego, a gorgeous spot for an intimate ceremony. Denise is a geographer and Neil an Architect so for their bouquet and boutonniere Denise made {yes made!} paper ones out of maps and blue prints! {detail pics below to show them off!} We had so much fun spending the day celebrating the Dixon's :) ... Congrats is in order for this lovely couple! Kristin and Matt are simply wonderful. From the day we first met with them we were hooked on their contagiously sweet spirits, love for each other and out going personalities.

They were married at the beach in Mission Bay {perfect quaint spot} and then celebrated the night away at the Mission Bay Woman's Rowing club {Zlac}. We thoroughly enjoyed being a part of every moment throughout this day.

Get ready for vibrant colors, beautiful traditions and raw culture! Sarika and Prabhu celebrate their wedding weekend in pure Indian style...Four days of traditional ceremonies that prepare them for their wedding day. First off, The Haldi also known as the "glow ceremony" consists of blessings and beautifying for the bride by painting her with a gold clay. The Mehndi was the henna ceremony and blessings from the brides parents to the groom and his parents. That evening the two families shared a dinner with one another. Last event of the weekend is the Sangeet, this is a huge party! All of the bride and grooms closest friends and family members come to gift them with specially prepared songs and dances. This was such a fun evening to be a part of and a huge honor to capture these personal moments throughout their wedding weekend!

Meet Carolyn...She is fabulous! The other day we had the privilege of capturing her being a super model for a surprise shoot she did for her husband, in honor of their 10th wedding anniversary. Her husband Drew is a Search and Rescue Swimmer in the Navy! How cool is that?? So we decided to embrace the nautical theme and do the shoot on the Midway, Star of India, the Berkley and at the hanger on the base where he works! This is just a teaser for now, more to come in a few weeks...we are a little behind on our posts, sorry about that!!

Rali and Mary not only became our clients they became our friends! We absolutely adore these little lovebirds...They were married on July 31st {national dance day!} and let me just tell you after their gorgeous ceremony we partied the night away. Adding to the fun, Rali's aunt and Doug swapped Johnny Cash stories {doug's obsession} since she spent time on tour with June and Johnny.

With every shoot we do we include these wonderful post-consumer (ie:recycled!) disc holders that are personally customized with images from your photo session...if you are lucky you might even get some polaroids! Now doesn't that just make you want to jump for joy?

Trash the Dress.Dene+Wes

This post is exceptionally special to us for a number of reasons. Dene and Wes were married 9 years ago this July and unfortunately only have ONE picture of them at their wedding!!! What a travesty! So when Dene said that she wanted to do a trash the dress shoot for their 9 year anniversary, we knew we wanted to go that extra mile to make sure that these pictures were everything she and Wes would have wanted on their wedding day and even more. So...we combined their love for the mountains and our (especially Doug's) love for the water and put together a trash the dress shoot that incorporates some "sub-aquatic" elements. It was a warm day out on HWY 49 and we started with some shots at an 1840s brick building and then moved on down the road to Oregon Creek Bridge - built in 1860; there is obviously some tremendous history in those hills. The water of the South Yuba is a little chilly, even in the summer but both of them were such troopers and totally rocked the camera, above and below water. Enjoy the visions of sub-aquatic altered realities...

What is the best way to escape the June Gloom of S.Cal? Head out to the mountains of course, and that is exactly what we did with this lovely couple, Mary and Rali. We loaded up in the (new!!!) Prius and cruised the Sunrise Highway and made a quick stop in Julian for some awesome golden hour lighting. A big thanks goes out to this couple for always willing to tromp through fields and finally being able to work out that "serious/smouldering" face! You guys are great and we can't wait for the wedding at the end of the month!

A windmill, the beach, and mariachis! This was a wonderful wedding full of marvelous little surprises all along the way. None was more impressive than Brenda's two solos that she sang for her parents and husband Brody. It was (as always) a pleasure to work along side the amazingly talented AquaVivus who put together a same day premiere (a beautiful 5 minute video of the days events edited and ready to view by the end of the reception so all the guests can see - how they do it remains a mystery) check it out HERE. What a wonderful weekend we had with this couple! They are both two of our dearest friends and it made it so much fun to be part of their special day. Ashlee was actually in the wedding so we recruited Doug's sister to step in for her (thanks Dene'!). We were able to incorporate some really special places as Northern California is both of our stomping grounds; Grandpa's horse pasture, abandoned house, random fields on the side of Horseshoe Bar Road...et cetera. Thanks the wonderful folks at The Impossible Project, we are now able to incorporate polaroid photos into photography packages! Here is an example (which really doesn't quite do them justice - they are much more vibrant and appealing in person!) of some images that were shot on Fuji Astia 100 film and printed onto Polariod 100 film right in our garage! There are oodles of artistic possibilities and these prints are just the starting point so be sure to keep an eye out for what will be coming next!

If you ever get the opportunity to go to a Portuguese wedding and reception, GO!!! They are fun, have so much energy and so much love for each other. It was a blast spending the day with Paulo and Janete's closest friends and family. They cried through the vows and danced the night away at the reception (her dad actually jumped down into the splits and back up, he was an amazing dancer!). Plus you will fall in love with their olive skin, dark hair and memorizing green eyes! The ceremony was held at Shelter Island and the reception took place at the Portuguese hall in Point Loma.

For this wonderful couple we ditched the city and headed up to Julian for a picnic themed shoot, complete with Julian apple pie - need we say more? Yes! The Daffodil Festival was going on and the flowers were awesome! We had a great time with Neil and Denise and cannot wait to for the wedding in October!

Congratulations is in order for this AMAZING couple! Andy and Courtney Kelly! Getting a glimpse of their love story through a lens was an honor. Their love for each other and for God was so true and evident in their lives. From tears of joy to deep belly laughs this couple is in love and beaming with pure bliss and we got to catch it all! The wedding took place in a quaint chapel in Clovis, Ca. Followed by the reception which was held at the beautiful Copeland's home(Courtney's parents) hand built by Mr. Copeland himself! The best way to describe the reception was "father of the bride". It was ever so elegant, in a white tent with gorgeous chandeliers and flowers bursting with color flowing throughout. The food, drinks, music, and obeisance was stunning just like the bride! Check out the pics to see! Courtney was gorgeous and Andy ever so handsome...I am telling you this couple is AMAZING inside and out!

We LOVE Matt and Kristin! Talk about a fun, in love, good looking couple...here they are! I love their story, six months ago they went on a double date (as their friends wing man and woman) yet, ended up falling in love! A day later Matt called ask Kristin on a date alone (i like that he only waited one day to call, couldn't resist! Right Kristin!?!) and now six months later they are engaged and getting married in October! We had a wonderful evening shooting this couple, we started out at this beautiful bridge in Hillcrest. Then drove to La Jolla for some beach setting shots. And lastly we fulfilled Doug's artistic desires and went to this open field where we hung our antique light on a fallen down tree and captured them under the stars, under some cool lighting! (good idea babe!)

I am proud to announce that my husband, Doug Wylie, was chosen on National Geographic's web site as June 3, 2009 Photo of the Day! They chose his awesome shot of the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. He captured this shot as we walked the streets arm in arm taking in all the amazing history and culture. But I will admit...I was the one who said "wow, look at that puddle! That would make for an great pic." Then within one second the tripod was set up and the camera ready to go! He captured it perfectly! WONDERFUL SHOT BABE!
